So, my days get better and better. Instead of the root canal I thought I would have done today, I have a temporary filling stuffed with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. What makes it even funner is that this filling sticks out from my tooth, so I can’t close my jaw. Want some more fun? This will be stuck in my mouth for just under 3 weeks, and will cause me pain. Yay for me. So, what better to do than watch a couple of movies?

Bridesmaids. This film follows a woman who, after discovering that her oldest friend is getting married, has her whole life fall apart and tries to be the best maid of honour that she can.

When my mum chose this film from the DVD rental store (she had a say, seeing as it’s her birthday today…HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!) I had a feeling it would be good. But there was something that just made me worry that it wouldn’t be. And I really needed something to make my numb face smile.

Oh, this film worked wonders!

I can’t really explain to you how magnificent this film is. I mean, okay, it’s not award winning stuff. But as a cheer-yourself-up movie, this is fantastic.

You watch it and realise how wonderful your life is. Everything goes wrong for this poor woman. And it’s hilarious. Kristen Wiig was a fantastic choice as Annie; her comic timing is that of a genius. It’s the little things with her. It really is.

All the bridesmaids were amazing. But you know who was the best? Melissa McCarthy. Or Megan as she’s known in the film. I don’t usually find her kind of characters funny, but I couldn’t contain my laughter with the line ‘I’m not even sure what end that came out of’. Funny funny stuff.

And Chris O’Dowd. I know him from The I.T Crowd as Roy. He’s okay in that. In this? Positively adorable. He is the kind of man that I would be proud to call my boyfriend. He made me feel all squishy and happy inside. I love him. Yes I do. I love him so very much.

The story is okay. Like I said, not groundbreaking stuff. But it’s alright. What makes this film is the actors. For sure. If the casting had been any different, I really don’t think this film would have been all that good. So a massive round of applause for all the actors in this film. You have made this grumpy, toothache ridden 22 year old girl a happy happy bunny. Thank you for that.

Anyway, I still have another film to go. Not really sure how successful that film will be, but we’ve got it now and by golly, Imma watch that film! So, I would truly recommend this film to anyone. It’s pretty much hilarious on every level. No one can watch it and say it isn’t funny. If you do, you have no soul. True story.

Emie, out. (For now…)
